after care
After care if very important! Once you leave, you have a job to do to preserve your fresh work.
Remove bandage after 2-4 hours, DO NOT REBANDAGE.
Clean with soap and warm water. My favorite soap is Dr.Bronners, but you can use any soap you have, preferably no fragrance.
Let it breathe for the first 24 hours, meaning do not apply any ointment or lotion.
The next day, clean again with soap and water. I highly recommend using a hot compress (warm, wet, clean washcloth) after you clean. This will be soothing and will help keep white blood cells from forming a scab. Allow to dry fully, then apply a very small amount of A and D ointment or Aquaphor. Use sparingly!!! Do this 2-3 times a day for 3 days, then switch to an unscented lotion like Lubriderm or Cetaphil.
LESS IS MORE! You want it to dry out in between applications.
DO NOT pick at it, touch it, or scratch it!!!! It will heal similar to a sunburn, and it’s normal to peel. Avoid tight clothing or things which rub.
No swimming, sunning, or soaking for 2 weeks.
Your tattoo should looked mostly healed within 2 weeks, but it takes a full 2 months before any touch ups can be done. If you have any questions, contact me! I'm happy to help you.
